What is ModelEngine?
ModelEngine is a Minecraft plugin that allows you to use custom 3D models (made in Blockbench) on mobs. You can create dragons, dinosaurs, animated NPCs, etc., and bring them into the game — fully animated and customizable.
⚠️ ModelEngine is not a mob editor on its own — it works with plugins like MythicMobs to attach models to mobs.
What You Need Before Installing
- Paper or Purpur server (Spigot is not supported anymore for ModelEngine)
- Minecraft Java Edition (not supported on Bedrock)
- Resource pack support (so your players see the models) For example Nexo – Read More >
- MythicMobs (if you want to make mobs using your custom models) – Read More >
Step 1: Download ModelEngine
- Go to the official dowload page – DOWNLOAD MODELENGINE >
- Find the “Go to Download” button in the top right(Lite version is free)
- ModelEngine comes in two versions (MAKE SURE TO GET MODELENGINE 4):
- Free Version (Lite): basic functionality
- Premium Version: more features, animations, and better model control
- ⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTE: Premium has more features, most Mobs you buy on this website or similar website require the premium version of ModelEngine
- You’ll get a file like: ModelEngine-4.x.x.jar
Step 2: Install ModelEngine on your server
- Locate your server’s plugins/ folder
- Drop the ModelEngine.jar file into the plugins folder
- Start or restart your server
- You should now see a ModelEngine folder created in plugins/ – this contains config files and examples
Step 3: Check if its working
- In the console or in-game (if you’re OP), type:
/meg
- You should see plugin commands listed, meaning it’s loaded correctly!
Final Notes
- MythicMobs has a steep learning curve but it’s very powerful once you get the hang of it.
- Use Blockbench to make or edit your own models – GET BLOCKBENCH FOR FREE >
- Their ModelEngine Documentation is super useful.
